We are calling upon your assistance with regard to two special requests. The Synodical Services Office is seeking nominations to fill positions of persons who are completing service to the synodical Judicial Code Committee (JCC) and the Ecumenical
and Interfaith Relations Committee (EIRC). Nominations are solicited from the classes and their member churches - please forward the council clerks and pastors within your classis.
1. The Judicial Code Committee is seeking nominations of women and ethnically diverse persons from outside of the U.S. Upper Midwest, specifically for the following: · Persons trained in law · Lay persons not trained in law
2. The Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations Committee is seeking nominations of persons experienced in engagement with other denominations and, if possible, international denominations. Please keep in mind the strong urging of synod to ensure inclusion of ethnic diversity in board and committee nominations. Classes within the following regions are asked to respond: ·
U.S. classes within the Great Lakes region ·
Canadian classes east of Classis Lake Superior
Please forward the above requests to the council clerks within your classis if applicable. We are grateful for your consideration of these requests and ask that nominations be sent (using the attached forms), including contact information and a brief bio, to Dee Recker ( firstname.lastname@example.org) by January 7.
As you consider qualified individuals, we remind you that synod desires that its committees and boards reflect the wonderful diversity of our denomination (gender, ethnicity, and age).
JCC nominations will be considered by the Council of Delegates, with input from the JCC as appropriate; EIRC nominations will be considered by the Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations Committee. Recommendations will be forwarded to synod for appointment in June. All nominees will be informed of the process and decisions following the winter meetings.
