Special (contracta) meeting of Classis Chatham
                                                   7:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2018,
at East Strathroy CRC, 476 Metcalfe Street East,
                                                                Strathroy, Ontario.

The purpose purpose of this meeting is to consider and endorse a recommendation from the LCM, that classis approve the work of the Fanshawe Chaplain Search Committee.  The Search Committee and the LCM Board is recommending the approval of Helena Allan (resume attached) to become the new Chaplain at Fanshawe College, with a start date of January 7, 2019.  Hence, at this meeting we will introduce Helena to classis, have a conversation with her, and consider the recommendation.
The grounds for this special meeting of classis is that the proposed start date of January 7, 2019 aligns with the college's Winter Term, giving Helena exposure to the college and students for the full semester.  If approval is delayed to our regular meeting in February, much of the semester will be lost (without a chaplain).
As this meeting is called for a specific purpose and is a 'contracta' meeting, there is only the one item of business on the agenda.  Although a quorum (half of the churches of classis plus one) is required, we hope that as many delegates attend as possible from all of our churches.  However, given the short notice, it is understandable that it may be impractical to send a full slate of delegates.  (Art. 39 CO Supplement)
Credentials for this meeting are attached.  Please bring the signed credentials and register at the Registration Desk prior to the meeting.  Registration will begin at 7:00 p.m.  For planning purposes, I would also appreciate an email from your church as soon as you are able, advising who from your church will attend as delegates.
Please note that the regular session of classis is still scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Wallaceburg.  Credentials for that meeting were distributed earlier this week.
